We migrate from Johannesburg’s Cradle of Human Kind, through the African Savanna in search of amazing scenery, beautiful landscapes, mountain passes, quaint villages, historical bites, cultural African experiences, Big 5 Game country, the stunningly beautiful and dramatic East coast of Mozambique, Maputo “The Havana of Africa”, the Elephant and Dolphin coast of South Africa Kwazulu Natal Coast.

Itinerary:

Arrival Day

AAMT meets you on arrival at Johannesburg International Airport and transfers you to your hotel in the Cradle of Humankind. Tonight we welcome you as a pride and feast in true African style as we enjoy a welcome Africa  Adventure feast. The hunt will commence after a restful evening.

Day 1: Cradle of Humankind

The hunt commences after breakfast where we depart our hotel and tour the Magaliesburg Mountain Range and its beautiful surroundings. The Magaliesburg mountain range is considered one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world and is 100 times older than Mount Everest. We tour the Cradle of Humankind Museum. The Cradle of Humankind is an anthropological site that holds 40% of human ancestral fossils. We stop off at the Rhino and Lion Park for a game safari and view Lions, Rhinos, Cheetahs, Wild Dogs, Buffalo and a variety of Antelope. We ride to Lesedi, an African Cultural Village, and stop off to meet other members of our family at the Lion Park,  whilst continuing our journey to the scenic town of Hartbeespoort Dam. We enjoy a cable car trip to the top of the mountains to view this magnificent site from a birds-eye view.  We then ride along the shoreline of the dam and through our own replica of the famous French “Arc De Triomf”. Tonight we rest in the Cradle.

Day 2: Cradle of Humankind-Dullstroom (300Km)

We leave this beautiful World Heritage Site and continue our adventure past the Jacaranda city of Johannesburg on our way to the picturesque fishing village of Dullstroom.  Dullstroom features the highest railway station in Southern Africa and is the gate way to the Mpumalanga Escarpment. We visit a local micro brewery that produces blonde ail, pail ail, and boltic ail. This afternoon after we have parked the bikes we enjoy a wild about whiskey experience. Wild About Whiskey South Africa’s best stocked whiskey bar. Spend the afternoon exploring the charming little shops  restaurants of this historic town. Tonight we feast on fresh local Rainbow Trout straight out of the lakes and dams of this trout fly fishing capital of South Africa.

Day 3: Dullstroom-Hoedspruit (250Km)

Today we head into the heart of the Mpumalanga Escarpment and it’s beautiful scenery. We visit mountainous towns, ride mountain passes, experience awesome views and marvel at the breathtaking beauty of this motorcycling paradise. We ride to the 3rd biggest canyon in the world-Blyde River Canyon. We sleep in the Mpumalanga escarpment.  We ride the historical Long Tom pass and stop off at Pilgrims Rest- a historical bygone gold mining town. We continue our journey through scenic mountain towns and passes. We end the day at Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center- A dedicated sanctuary for vulnerable animals. Tonight we rest in this beautiful panoramic town.

Day 4: Hoedspruit – Kruger National Park

Leaving Hoedspruit we continue our journey to the Mpumalanga panoramic escarpment and its beautiful scenery, amazing waterfalls,  breathtaking pine plantations as far as the eye can see. Stopping off in Graskop to enjoy amazing pancakes whilst making our way to the Sudwala caves via God’s Window, Mac Mac Falls, Bourkes Luck Potholes to name but a few.  This area is bikers paradise, we enjoy a cave tour. The odour of the Big 5 game country lingers in our nostrils as we ride to the world  famous Kruger National Park.

Day 5: Rest Day at the Kruger National Park

We wake to the calls of the African bushveld. Today we are going on safari  in search of the Big 5. Tonight we experience a night drive stopping off to dine in the wild. We dine on an African feast in the wild under a starry night whilst a ranger stands guard to prevent the Lions, Leopards, and hyenas from partaking in our feast. Tonight we fall asleep to the sound of the Hyenas calling.

Day 6: Kruger National Park – Ponta do Ouro (280Km)

Leaving the Kruger National Park behind us, we head for Marloth Park and explore this area. This is a perfect opportunity to photograph us on our motorcycles whilst riding amongst wild animals.  Our journey then takes us to the Lebombo Mountains and the South African/Mozambiquen border.  Clearing customs and border procedures, we make our way to the vibrant and colorful Maputo, also known as the “Havana of Africa” with it’s beautiful Maputo Bay.  We cross over the replica San Fransisco bridge, traveling through the Maputo elephant reserve, lookout for these great giants.  On our way to Ponto du Oura, also known as the “Point of Gold” and it’s as the eye can see, amazingly beautiful sandy beach.  Our day ends as we ride through this Mozambiquen colourful seaside enclave, ending our ride on the beach.  Enjoy the afternoon on this stunning beach, tonight we get transported, to the remote village of Ponta Malangane and dine at the famous restaurant, known as the Drunken Clam, without doubt the best peri-peri chicken and seafood Mozambique has to offer.  Tonight we fall asleep to the sound of the ocean.

Day 7: Ponta do Ouro – St Lucia (250Km)

After cross border proceedings and customs clearance, we head for the Thembe Elephant National Park.  We safari into the park to the park to view these majestic creatures.  Leaving the Thembe Elephant National Park, we make our way to the World Heritage site of St Lucia.

Day 9: St Lucia – Ballito (200Km)

 

Leaving the lake area, we ride through pineapple plantations, beautiful scenery on our way to the Dolphin Coast seaside hamlet of Ballito.  Tonight we fall asleep to the sound of the wave crashing on the rocks.

 

Day 10: Ballito – Midlands Meander

We leave the North Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal and its beautiful beaches and ride along the Kwa-Zulu Natal coast to the port city Durban, towards the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands Meander, with its arty shops and charming little villages.  Tonight we sleep in this beautiful Meander and its rolling hillsides and spectacular scenery.

Day 11: Midlands Meander – Umhlanga

Leaving the Meander, we head back to the Kwa-Zulu Natal coast and its stunning beaches.  Tonight we dine with the sharks in the phantom ship – a never to be forgotten experience, and fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing on this rocky coastline.

Day 12: Back Home

After a hearty breakfast overlooking the ocean, AAMT transfers you to King Shaka International Airport, for your complimentary domestic flight back to Johannesburg.
