Day 1: Dar Es Salaam to Kilimanjaro – Arusha

After breakfast, this amazing epic journey on 2 wheels begin. Leaving Dar Es Salaam, we ride to one of the 7 wonder’s of Africa – Mount Kilimanjaro or as it is locally affectionately known as “Killie”. It is the highest mountain in Africa, as well as the highest single free-standing mountain in the world, with its summit at 5 895 meters. We “erupt” with delight and awe as this 7th wonder of Africa comes into view the closer we get.

Day 2: Kilimanjaro National Park

Today we spend our time riding around this 300 000 million-year-old rock, whilst admiring its magical beauty from all angles. Tonight we sleep in the foothills of this geographical wonder.

Day 3: Kilimanjaro to Serengeti National Park – Karatu

Leaving this majestic mountain with its 3 volcanic cones – Kibo, Mawenzi and Shira, we ride through the beautiful landscapes on our way to the world-famous, 30 000 km² protected, Serengeti National Park – another African wonder. Renowned for its the annual migration of 1,5 million white-bearded Wildebeest, 250 000 Zebra, large groups of Nile Crocodiles and honey badgers.

Today, we ride through vast coffee, tea and cotton plantations on our way to Serengeti National Park. On our arrival, we park the motorcycles and enter the “endless plains” of the Serengeti by Safari Game vehicle and search for its large prides of Lion and other Big 5 Game. Tonight we dine under the African sky and fall asleep to the calls of the wild at our luxury tented camp in the reserve. Remember there are no fences, so be prepared for the possibility of “nocturnal visitors” and definitely no “walk-a-bouts” after the majestic African sunset has taken your breath away.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park

This morning you wake to the sounds of the birds preparing for their busy day, as they soar above the plains of one of Africa’s finest game reserves. It is home to over 3000 lions, 1000 Leopards, 8700 spotted Hyena’s, Cheetahs and millions of Antelope.

You will get your chance to try and count as we soar over these plains and marvel at the game below us in a hot air balloon, whilst sipping champagne. After our “soar with the eagles” experience, we land and continue our Safari in-game drive vehicles. Tonight we dine in style under the African night sky.

Day 5: Depart for Lake Victoria – Mwanza

We say goodbye with sadness to the Serengeti, with memories of this amazing National Park, but do not despair, more wonders are to come. Our destination

Day 6: Arrive Lake Victoria

Today is an early start as we head for one of Africa’s Greatest Lakes – Lake Victoria, named after Majesty Queen Victoria. Our ride takes us to the shores of Africa’s Largest Lake (68 800 km²) and which is also the source of the Nile. Lake Victoria is also the world’s largest tropical lake with more than 200 species of fish and 2nd only to the largest freshwater lake in the world – Lake Superior in the United States of America.

This afternoon, leisure time around the lake and we visit the Mzwana Art Gallery. Late afternoon we enjoy a sunset cruise.

Day 7: Depart for Lake Tanganyika – Kigoma

We depart Lake Victoria in the Great Rift Valley and journey towards Lake Tanganyika, whilst hugging the border of Tanzania and Burundi. Tonight we sleep within a short distance of Lake Tanganyika.

Day 8: Arrive Lake Tanganyika

After a short ride, we arrive at the lakeside town of Kigoma on the shores of Lake Tanganyika – another African Great Lake. Lake Tanganyika is the 2nd deepest lake in the world at 1 470m, after Lake Baikal in Siberia. It is also the 2nd largest by volume and the 2nd oldest freshwater lake in the world. It is the world’s largest freshwater lake. Its immense depth is attributed to the fact that it lies in the Great Rift Valley. It boasts over 350 species of fish.

But most importantly is the gateway to the reason we have ridden to this remote location – Gombe National Park. The smallest of Tanzania’s National Parks and only accessible by boat. This afternoon we visit the historical site of where Henry Stanley uttered his famous words, after being sent by the Crown, to find presumed to be lost, Dr David Livingstone. At what is known as Ujiji, Henry Stanley on meeting Dr Livingstone greeted him with the famous words “Dr Livingstone I presume”. This afternoon, we enjoy watching the renowned dhow builders at work and also visit the historical home of the Scottish explorer, Dr David Livingstone.

Day 9: Gombe National Park

Leaving Kigoma by private motorboat charter, we cruise to the Gombe National Park, possibly meeting local fishermen along the way, as they practice the craft, handed down from generation to generation through the centuries. Travelling along the shoreline of this amazing great lake, to the remote destination of Gombe National Park, our mind wanders back 60 years. The year is 1960 and a young 26-year-old lady, with the name of Jane Goodall, is also on her way to the Gombe National Park. Her quest is to study the Chimpanzees in their natural habitat, as we are about to do.

Reaching shore, we book into our accommodation. This afternoon, our guide and ranger join us and the trek into the jungle commences. Searching through the lush green vegetation, wondering at the amazing views, we seek out the Chimpanzees of Gombe National Park. Once our expert guide and ranger locates the tribe. We watch, admire and study their behaviour, just as Dr Jane Goodall did many years ago. We can only imagine the peace and tranquillity she experienced on her own viewing these amazing primates who are listed as endangered.

Late this afternoon is spent relaxing on the beach of this amazing lake or enjoying snorkelling and viewing the fish that inhabit this clear crystal lake.

Day 10: Gombe National Park

The Day starts with breakfast and the excitement of trekking this spectacular park in search of Jane’s Chimpanzees. Should time permit we hike to Jane’s Peak or the spectacular Kakombe Waterfalls.

Later this afternoon, our 24-hour permit is expiring and we head back to Kigoma by chartered boat. During the 2 hours trip back, it dawns upon us – THIS EXPERIENCE HAS MOVED OUR SOUL AND CHANGED OUR LIFE FOREVER.

Day 11: Zanzibar

Your flight departs Kigoma to the magical island of Zanzibar, also known as Spice Island. You are transferred to your hotel for a few days of blissful relaxation.

Day 12: Zanzibar Day 2

Relax and soak up the sun on this beautiful white beached island, with its azure blue waters.

Day 13: Zanzibar Day 3
